Membership Cards in Dubai: It Lives in a Wallet and Gets Scanned
A membership card belongs to the customer, not to you, and it has to survive years of being carried without looking tired. Membership cards in Dubai go to gyms, clubs, clinics and loyalty schemes, and the scanning strip matters more than the photograph.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
It Has to Be Readable at a Counter
A barcode or QR code gets scanned several times a week, so it needs a clear margin, good contrast and a flat glossy surface. Printed over a photograph or a dark pattern, a code fails at the desk and the member starts resenting the card.
Most Members Do Not Need a Photograph
Where the card is about entitlement and not identity, dropping the photograph removes the whole data gathering exercise. Cards can then be printed in a batch with only a number on them and assigned as people join.
It Is Judged Against a Bank Card
People compare it to everything else in their wallet without thinking about it. Standard bank card size and thickness in fused PVC reads as a real card, and anything thinner or paper based reads as temporary.
Tiers Are Easiest to Show as Finish
A matt black card for one level and a standard one for another communicates a hierarchy instantly. Printing the word on the card does the same job far less effectively.
A Signature Panel Needs a Matt Patch
Nothing writes on glossy PVC. If a member has to sign the card, a small matt printed panel is the only way to make a pen work, and it has to be designed in.
Scanned Before the Run
We print one card and scan the code with a handheld reader, because a code that looks fine and will not scan is the single most common failure on this product.
A practical note on batch issue. Printing a run of blank numbered cards and personalising later is much cheaper per card than producing named cards one at a time, and it means a new member walks out with a card the same day. Decide which model you want before artwork.
Compare with ID card printing, plastic and metal cards, and cards, badges and lanyards.

Setting up your file.
- 01Work at the finished sizeSet the page to the exact trimmed size of the piece, not a larger sheet with crop marks drawn in.
- 02Add 3 mm bleedRun background colour and images 3 mm past every edge that gets trimmed, so no white line shows after cutting.
- 03Keep text off the edgeHold text and logos at least 4 mm inside the trim line, clear of the blade.
- 04Send a print-ready PDFCMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, images at 300 dpi at final size. AI, EPS and high-resolution JPEG also work.
