Card Holders in Dubai: Which Edge the Card Slides Out Of
A holder has one job and one well known way of failing, which is letting the card fall out. Card holders in Dubai are bought alongside badges and ID cards, and the opening orientation is the detail that decides whether that happens.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Opening Edge Is Not Interchangeable
An upright holder opens along the top edge and a sideways one opens along the short end. Put a sideways card into an upright holder and it sits turned, with one corner at the opening, and it works its way out every time somebody bends over.
Rigid Holders Protect and Soft Ones Flex
A rigid plastic holder keeps the card flat and takes being sat on. A soft vinyl wallet is cheaper, lighter and lets the card bow, which over months puts a permanent curve in it.
Double Pocket Holders Carry Two Cards
An ID card on one side and an access card or a business card on the other. Useful, and worth checking that two cards together still read through a door reader, because some systems object to that.
The Slot Shape Has to Match the Lanyard
A round punched hole takes a swivel hook. A wide slot takes a bulldog clip or a strap clip. A holder and a lanyard are bought as a pair, and mismatched fittings are the usual reason a box of each arrives and nothing fits together.
Retractable Reels Suit Doors
Where somebody taps a card on a reader all day, a reel lets them pull the card out and let it spring back without unclipping anything. On a site with turnstiles this stops lanyards being stretched over heads a hundred times a day.
Supplied Matched to Your Cards
We check the holder against your actual card and lanyard fitting before supplying a quantity, since the three only work as a set.
Being honest about the cheap ones. The thinnest soft vinyl wallets split at the corner of the opening within a few weeks of daily use, and the card then works its way out. For permanent staff a rigid holder costs a little more and lasts years.

Setting up your file.
- 01Work at the finished sizeSet the page to the exact trimmed size of the piece, not a larger sheet with crop marks drawn in.
- 02Add 3 mm bleedRun background colour and images 3 mm past every edge that gets trimmed, so no white line shows after cutting.
- 03Keep text off the edgeHold text and logos at least 4 mm inside the trim line, clear of the blade.
- 04Send a print-ready PDFCMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, images at 300 dpi at final size. AI, EPS and high-resolution JPEG also work.
