Outdoor and Event Flags in Dubai: One Flag Through One Windy Day

Follow a single blade flag through a day outside a showroom and you learn more than any specification sheet gives you. Outdoor and event flags in Dubai spend their working life being loaded and unloaded by the wind, and almost everything that goes wrong with them happens at a predictable hour.

Before it reaches you

What happens to your order before it reaches you.

Five steps, from the brief you send us to the moment it is in place.

01

Seven in the Morning: It Goes Up Slack

Early, there is no wind. The flag hangs down the pole in soft folds and looks disappointing. This is normal and it is also the moment people decide the flag is too small, which it usually is not.

02

Ten o'clock: The Shape Appears

A breeze picks up and the curved pole bends back, pulling the fabric tight along its leading edge. This is what the shape is for. A blade flag is designed to hold its graphic open in a light wind instead of waiting for a strong one.

03

Two in the Afternoon: The Base Earns Its Money

Heat and wind together. A cross base with a water tank on it stays put. A light cross base on a smooth forecourt begins to creep, slowly, in the direction of the wind, and nobody notices until the flag is two metres from where it started.

04

Six in the Evening: The Fly Edge Starts to Fray

The far edge from the pole is the one that moves fastest and wears first. Doubled stitching there is the difference between a flag that lasts a season and one that lasts a month.

05

Packing Down

The pole sections separate, the flag stays on its sleeve, and the whole thing goes back in a bag about the size of a golf club cover.

The awkward part comes next. Flags left up overnight in an unattended spot are the ones that get damaged or taken. Most clients who lose a flag lost it after hours, so we usually suggest taking them in. See also bases and hardware, flag printing, and outdoor displays. Quantity changes the look as much as size does. One flag outside a unit reads as a sign. Three in a row reads as an event, and the third one costs far less than the first because the setup is already done.
