L-Shape Flags in Dubai: Held on Two Edges, Not One
An L-shape flag is supported along its vertical edge and across the top by a horizontal arm, so the fabric is stretched between two sides of a right angle. L-shape flags in Dubai hold a perfectly flat rectangle in still air, which makes them the closest thing in the range to a rigid sign.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Top Arm Does the Work
A horizontal pole runs out from the top of the upright and holds the head of the flag open. Nothing sags, nothing curls, and the artwork sits square whether there is wind or not.
You Get a True Rectangle
No taper, no arc, no curve to design around. A layout built for a poster transfers directly, which is why these are chosen when the artwork already exists in a fixed format.
It Does Not Rotate
Unlike a sail flag, an L-shape faces one direction and stays there. That is useful when you need the message aimed at a particular approach, and it is a disadvantage in gusty conditions.
Wind Loads It Hard
A fixed flat rectangle acts like a sail with nowhere to go. These need a heavier base than a teardrop of the same height, and on a very exposed site they are the wrong choice.
Setup Takes a Moment Longer
Two poles to assemble and a flag to tension across both. Still tool free, but not the ten second job a sleeve flag is.
Good Indoors Too
Because it needs no breeze and holds flat, the L-shape is often used inside exhibition halls where a sail flag would simply hang. Because it holds a true rectangle, this is also the shape to choose when the same artwork has to work as a roll-up banner indoors and a flag outside a door. Because it faces one way and holds flat, this is the shape to use where a flag is standing beside a door being photographed. A rotating sail flag will be facing the wrong way in half the pictures taken that day.
Here is the honest comparison. Where the ground is sheltered and you want a flat readable panel, an L-shape beats every sail shape for legibility. Put it somewhere windy and you will spend the day picking it up.
