Outlit 3D Signage in Dubai: Lighting Aimed at the Letters
Outlit signage keeps the light outside the letters entirely. Fittings above or below throw light onto the face of the sign, the way a painting is lit. Outlit 3D signage in Dubai suits heritage frontages, stone facades and anywhere the client wants illumination without a glowing box on the wall.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Fitting Comes Before the Letters
Position, beam angle and distance all have to be settled first, because they determine whether the light lands on the letters or on the wall above them. This is lighting design with a sign attached, and doing it the other way round rarely works.
Trough Lights Sit Above
A shaped trough runs along the top of the sign and washes light downwards. It is the traditional shopfront solution and it handles long runs of lettering evenly.
Spots Pick Out a Logo
Individual narrow beam fittings work better on a single crest or monogram, where a wash would light the whole wall and lose the shape.
Surface Finish Decides the Result
Matt surfaces take the light and hold it. Polished ones throw it straight back at whoever is standing in the beam, which on a shopfront means the customer. For outlit work we specify brushed or matt finishes almost without exception.
It Keeps the Sign Simple
The letters themselves are plain fabricated or cut shapes with no electrics in them. That makes them cheaper, lighter and effectively maintenance free, with any failure confined to a light fitting that can be reached from a ladder.
Aimed on Site
Fittings are set and aimed after dark with the letters already up, since the angle that looks right on paper is often a few degrees out in reality. We also check the beam from across the street, because a sign aimed perfectly from directly below can be throwing light into the eyes of anyone approaching from one side.
Here is the catch worth hearing. Outlit signs light the wall as well as the letters, and on a grubby or patched facade that is unflattering. The lighting shows every mark. Where the wall is poor, lighting from within the letters is kinder to it.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
