Shop Signage and Signboards in Dubai: The Fascia Above the Door
A shop sign has about two seconds to work on somebody walking past a row of thirty units. Shop signage and signboards in Dubai are judged against their neighbours, not on their own, and the practical decisions all come from that comparison.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Fascia Size Is Not Yours to Choose
In a mall or a managed building, the available fascia area is set by the landlord, often with a defined zone within it. The design has to fit that envelope before anything else is considered.
Brightness Is Relative
A sign is read against whatever is either side of it. In a brightly lit mall, a modestly lit sign disappears. We look at the neighbouring units before specifying output, which is a different exercise from sizing by letter height.
Day and Night Are Two Different Signs
Many units trade mostly in daylight, where an unlit white acrylic face reads as grey. Coloured or vinyl faced acrylic keeps the brand colour visible with the power off, and costs very little more.
Approval Runs in Parallel
The landlord pack goes in while the design is being finalised. Fabrication is quick, approval is not, and the opening date is decided by the second of those.
Installation Is Out of Hours
Most centres only permit signage work overnight or before opening. The install date is usually fixed by the centre's rules and not by our schedule.
Handed Over With Drawings
You get the fabrication drawings and the module specification, so any future repair or a second branch can be matched exactly. That matters more than it sounds for a growing brand, because matching an existing shopfront two years later from photographs alone is close to impossible, and a second branch that is almost right looks worse than one that is obviously different.
We would rather tell you this early than on the week of opening. If the landlord submission has not gone in, no amount of urgency produces a compliant fascia in a few days. The permission is the long pole, every time.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
