Reception Signage in Dubai: Standing Where the Visitor Stands
Reception signage is specified from one position: just inside the door, where a visitor stops and looks up. Everything about reception signage in Dubai follows from standing in that spot and seeing what is actually visible from it.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Desk Blocks More Than You Think
A counter, a monitor, a plant and a person all sit between the entrance and the wall. The usable area starts above all of that, which is usually higher than the design drawing assumes.
Distance Sets the Letter Height
We measure from the door to the wall. Five metres needs considerably larger lettering than the flat elevation suggests, and this is the most common reason a finished reception sign feels underwhelming.
Lighting in the Space Comes First
A sign under a downlight behaves differently from one on a wall lit only by daylight from the side. We look at the lighting before choosing between a backlit, frontlit or unlit treatment.
Finish Is Judged in the Room
Samples are taken to site and held against the actual wall. A brushed finish chosen in a workshop can read quite differently against dark stone under warm light.
It Is Templated Before Drilling
A paper template goes on the wall first so you can stand at the door and look at it. Moving a template costs nothing, and moving a drilled sign costs a repaired wall.
Installed Before Handover
We fit after the wall finishes are complete and before furniture goes in, which gives clear access and avoids working over a finished desk. Coordinating that window with the fit out programme is worth doing early, because a reception sign fitted around installed furniture takes twice as long, risks the finishes and usually means working in front of staff who have already moved in.
One thing worth weighing. A reception wall is usually the most expensive finish in the building, and fixing into marble or a feature panel is permanent. Where the wall is precious, letters on a separate backing panel let the whole sign come off cleanly later.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
