Backlit 3D Letters and Logos in Dubai: The Glow Is on the Wall
A backlit letter does not light up. The wall behind it does. The letter itself stays solid and dark, and a halo of light spreads out around its edges onto the surface behind. Backlit 3D letters and logos in Dubai are the finish most often specified for reception walls and hotel lobbies, and they depend almost entirely on what they are mounted to.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Face Stays Opaque
Brushed metal, painted acrylic or solid colour. Nothing comes through the front, which is why the letter keeps a strong shape by day and does not go milky grey when the power is off.
Light Points Backwards
Modules sit inside the letter facing the wall. The letter stands off the surface on spacers, and the gap between letter and wall is what the light fills.
The Standoff Distance Changes Everything
Too close and the halo is a tight hard ring. Too far and it washes out into a vague glow with no shape. Around twenty to thirty millimetres suits most letters, and we set it against the wall finish instead of by rule.
The Wall Becomes the Sign
A smooth pale wall throws a clean even halo. A textured or dark one absorbs the light and gives almost nothing back. This is the single biggest factor in whether a backlit sign looks like the reference image.
Ambient Light Competes
In a brightly lit lobby, a halo has to fight the downlights. We often dim the surrounding lighting slightly or increase output, and either way it is worth looking at the space before specifying.
Installed With the Drivers Hidden
Cables pass through the wall at each letter and run to a driver in the ceiling void or a nearby cupboard, so nothing is visible on the face of the wall.
The honest version is this. On a dark stone or heavily textured wall, backlighting will disappoint you however much we put behind it. Frontlit letters or an illuminated panel behind the letters will look far better, and we would rather say that at quotation.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
