3D Channellume Signage in Dubai: Built From a Coil and a Trim Cap
Channellume is a way of building a letter, not a way of lighting one. A continuous aluminium coil is bent around the outline to form the sides, and a plastic trim cap locks the acrylic face in place along the whole perimeter. 3D channellume signage in Dubai is the system most shopfront letters in the city are actually made with.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Coil Is Bent to the Outline
A bending machine follows the letter shape and folds the aluminium strip around it in one continuous piece. Corners are notched and the ends meet at a single joint, usually hidden at the bottom of the character.
The Back Is Fixed On
A flat back panel closes the letter and carries the modules and the cable entry. At this point the letter is a sealed tray with its electrics inside.
The Trim Cap Grips the Face
A plastic channel runs around the edge of the acrylic face and clips over the return, holding the face mechanically with no visible screws. That trim is what gives these letters their characteristic outlined edge.
Trim Colour Is a Design Decision
Black trim draws a line around every character and sharpens the shape. Colour matched trim almost disappears. People tend to choose this last and it changes the look of the sign more than they expect.
It Opens for Service
Because the face is clipped and not bonded, the trim can be released and the face lifted to reach the modules inside. On a long run of letters at height that is a genuine advantage years later.
Fitted as a Set
Letters are wired in sequence back to one driver and mounted on a template so spacing and baseline match the approved drawing. Drivers sit in an accessible position agreed with your contractor, because the one thing certain to need attention in ten years is the power supply and not the letters.
The trade off is in the edge. Channellume gives a slightly softer outline than a fabricated letter with welded returns. On large premium lettering, a welded return with no visible joint looks sharper, and it costs accordingly.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
