Acrylic Name Plates in Dubai: What the Edge Is Doing
Look at an acrylic plate from the side and you see the thing that makes the material worth using. Light travels through the sheet and gathers at the cut edge, so the border glows slightly against the wall behind it. Acrylic name plates in Dubai are chosen for that edge as much as for the face.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Edge Is Polished, Not Just Cut
A sawn edge is cloudy. Flame or diamond polishing turns it clear, and that is what produces the bright line around the plate. It is a separate operation and it is the first thing a cheap plate leaves out.
Thickness Changes the Character
Three millimetre acrylic reads as a light panel. Ten millimetre reads as a solid block with a substantial glowing border. Thickness is doing more visual work here than colour is, and it is worth seeing both before choosing.
Colour Can Sit on the Back
Printing on the reverse of clear acrylic puts the ink behind the material, so the colour is viewed through the sheet. It looks deeper, it cannot be scratched, and the front face stays a flawless gloss surface.
Standoffs Are Part of the Look
Acrylic is almost always held off the wall on polished bolts. The gap lets light behind the plate and throws a soft shadow, and that shadow is a large part of why the material looks expensive for what it costs.
It Lives Indoors
Acrylic handles office life well and does not enjoy sun. Outdoors it yellows over a few seasons and becomes brittle at the fixing holes, so for gates and exterior walls we use metal instead.
Where It Fits Best
Reception walls, meeting room doors and anywhere the plate is seen up close in controlled light.
The weakness to know about is cleaning. Solvent sprays dull acrylic and leave fine scratching that builds over time into a permanent haze. Warm water and a soft cloth keeps one looking new for years. Most tired acrylic plates were not worn out, they were cleaned to death.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
