Illuminated House Name Plates in Dubai: The Hour It Earns Its Keep
An illuminated plate is an ordinary plate for eleven hours a day and the only readable thing on the street for the other thirteen. Illuminated house name plates in Dubai are bought for one specific moment: arriving somewhere after dark, looking for a number.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
Before Dusk It Is Just a Plate
In daylight the lighting does nothing and the plate is judged on the same things as any other: contrast, size and finish. Buying an illuminated plate does not excuse a small number.
At Dusk the Edge Lights First
Most of these are edge lit acrylic or halo lit metal. As the light drops, the engraved characters or the glow behind the plate begin to separate from the wall. This is the transition hour, and it is when the plate looks best.
Through the Night It Carries the Street
A lit number is readable from much further than a reflective one, and it does not depend on a driver's headlights finding it at the right angle. On an unlit community road this is the whole argument for the product.
Power Is the Real Decision
Low voltage LED, run from a driver that has to live somewhere dry and accessible. A short cable run from an existing outdoor socket or light point is straightforward. Nothing nearby is a different job entirely.
Control Is Worth Thinking About
A photocell switches it on at dusk without anybody remembering to. A timer works but drifts with the seasons, and a plate still lit at nine in the morning looks like it was forgotten.
Fitted and Tested
Every unit is powered up in the workshop and left running before it leaves, then tested again on the wall after dark where the schedule allows.
The constraint we always state first: we cannot create a power supply. If there is no cable at the gate or wall, an electrician has to run one before we install, and that is their work and their cost. We will tell you what the plate needs so they can quote it properly.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
