Compliment Slips in Dubai: The Note That Goes in the Box

A compliment slip exists so somebody can write two lines by hand and put it in with something. Compliment slips in Dubai go into parcels, document wallets and gift boxes, and the entire specification follows from the fact that a pen has to work on it.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

It Must Take a Pen Without Hesitating

Uncoated stock absorbs ink immediately and a ballpoint or fountain pen writes cleanly. On a coated or laminated slip the ink sits on the surface, smears under a thumb and takes a minute to dry. This single requirement rules out most finishes.

02 / 06

Most of It Has to Be Empty

A branded header, a footer with the details, and nothing in between. A slip with a design across the middle leaves nowhere to write, which turns it into a small flyer nobody asked for.

03 / 06

It Runs as an Offcut

At roughly a third of an A4 sheet, compliment slips use the strip left over from a larger job. Ordered alongside letterheads they cost very little, and ordered alone they need a sheet of their own.

04 / 06

A Handwritten Note Is the Point

This is the one printed item whose value comes from not being printed. A line in somebody's handwriting with a parcel reads as attention in a way a printed thank you card does not.

05 / 06

Pads or Loose Both Work

Glued into a pad at the head, slips tear off one at a time and stay tidy on a desk. Loose in a box, they are quicker to grab when packing twenty parcels. Packing teams generally prefer loose, since a pad has to be held down with one hand to tear a slip off cleanly.

06 / 06

Printed Alongside the Set

We run these with your letterheads where the sheet allows, which is why ordering the stationery together comes out cheaper than ordering it piece by piece.

A small point about the pen. If anybody will use a fountain pen or a gel ink, ask for a slightly heavier uncoated stock, because thin uncoated paper lets wet ink bleed through and show on the back.
