A letterhead is the only printed item that gets printed on twice, once by us and once by the office laser printer that adds the actual letter. Letterhead printing in Dubai is constrained almost entirely by that second machine, and most letterhead problems are feeder problems.

Fuser Heat Is the Real Limit
A laser printer fuses toner at a temperature high enough to soften coatings. A laminated or heavily varnished letterhead will blister, stick or lift in that heat, and foil can transfer onto the drum. Letterheads stay uncoated for this reason and no other.
Weight Has an Upper Bound
Around one hundred to one hundred and twenty grams is the sensible band. Heavier feels impressive and starts jamming the paper path on a desktop machine, and nobody enjoys a letterhead that misfeeds one sheet in ten.
Your Printer Has a Margin It Cannot Reach
Every office printer has a non printable border, usually a few millimetres. A logo placed right at the edge is fine because we print it, but the letter text cannot reach there, so the usable typing area is smaller than the page.
Second Colour and Blind Emboss Still Work
Because the finishing is in the paper itself, a blind embossed logo or a second spot colour survives the laser perfectly. These are the ways to make an uncoated letterhead feel considered without risking the printer.
The Footer Carries the Legal Detail
Trade licence number, tax registration, address and contact details usually sit in a footer band. Set in small type across the bottom, they stay out of the letter area and off the first line of text.

There is one thing your printer decides and we do not. Different office machines place the page slightly differently, so a template that lines up perfectly on one printer can sit two millimetres off on another. Keep the typing area clear of the design and this never matters.

- 01Work at the finished sizeSet the page to the exact trimmed size of the piece, not a larger sheet with crop marks drawn in.
- 02Add 3 mm bleedRun background colour and images 3 mm past every edge that gets trimmed, so no white line shows after cutting.
- 03Keep text off the edgeHold text and logos at least 4 mm inside the trim line, clear of the blade.
- 04Send a print-ready PDFCMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, images at 300 dpi at final size. AI, EPS and high-resolution JPEG also work.
