Wall Name Plates in Dubai: What the Wall Is Made Of Decides Everything

A wall plate looks like the simplest thing we make and it is the one most often fitted badly. Wall name plates in Dubai go onto plasterboard, blockwork, glass partitions, timber and painted steel, and each of those wants a different fixing. Choosing the plate before checking the wall is how plates end up on the floor.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Plasterboard Needs Something to Grip

Most office partitions are hollow. A screw into plasterboard alone pulls out, so standoffs go into a plug or, better, into the stud behind. We ask where the studs are, or we find them on site.

02 / 06

Blockwork and Concrete Take a Plug

Solid walls are the easy case. Drill, plug, fix, and the plate will outlast the tenancy. The only care needed is depth, since a long fixing in a thin render coat can crack the surface around it.

03 / 06

Glass Partitions Cannot Be Drilled

These get a standoff plate on the adjacent wall, or a vinyl applied directly to the glass. Adhesive plates stuck on glass are the version that peels, and in a cooled office they peel from a corner within weeks.

04 / 06

Tape Is a Real Option, Correctly Used

Where drilling is banned, heavy double sided tape on a clean, smooth, non porous surface holds a small plate indefinitely. On textured paint or bare plaster it does not, and no amount of pressing fixes that.

05 / 06

Height Is Set Once for the Whole Floor

Every plate goes at the same height, measured from finished floor level and not from the door frame. Door frames vary by a surprising amount across one building, and plates lined up to them wander visibly along a corridor.

06 / 06

Fitted and Levelled

Each plate is levelled individually. A plate a degree off is invisible alone and obvious next to its neighbour.

A constraint we raise before quoting. If the building bans drilling entirely and the walls are textured, there is no fixing that will hold a heavy metal plate permanently. The honest answer there is a lighter acrylic plate on tape, and we would rather tell you that than fit something that falls off.
