On a Building, Darkness Is a Free Choice
Office and villa glazing can take whatever shade suits the room. A light tint cuts glare on screens. A deep tint gives daytime privacy and a noticeably cooler room, at the cost of needing the lights on earlier in the afternoon.
On a Vehicle, an Authority Sets the Limit
Vehicle tint is governed by the traffic authority, the permitted level depends on the vehicle category, and the front windscreen is treated differently to the side and rear glass. The limits are also revised from time to time.
Shade Is Measured as Light Transmission
Films are described by the percentage of visible light they let through. A lower number is a darker film. That single figure is how any specification or regulation refers to tint, so it is the number worth quoting when you ask for anything.
Dyed and Metallised Films Age Differently
A cheap dyed film fades to purple and bubbles within a couple of Dubai summers. A metallised or ceramic film holds its colour for years. On a car this is the difference between one job and three.
Fitting a Curved Rear Screen Is Skilled Work
Rear glass curves in two directions, so the film has to be heat shrunk to shape on the outside of the glass before being fitted to the inside. This is the step that separates a clean installation from one with creases at the corners.

We hold samples against the actual window in daylight, because a tint swatch on a desk tells you almost nothing about the room it will be in.
