Hanging Signage in Dubai: Signs That Live in the Air
When the walls are glass, too far away or already full, the only space left is overhead. Hanging signage in Dubai is suspended from ceilings, soffits and structure, and it solves a problem no wall mounted sign can in an open plan floor or a wide retail space.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
What It Hangs From Is the First Question
A suspended ceiling grid carries very little. Anything of weight goes to the slab or the structure above, which means the fixing is agreed with the building before the sign is designed.
Both Faces Are Seen
People walk past on both sides, so a hanging sign is almost always double sided. On a single sided panel, half the audience sees a blank back, which is the most common fault we are asked to correct.
Height Clears the Traffic
High enough that nobody walks into it, low enough to be read without looking straight up. In a retail aisle that window is narrower than it sounds, and it is set on site.
It Needs to Stop Moving
Air conditioning turns a lightly hung panel into a slowly rotating one. Two wires spaced apart instead of one in the centre, and a little weight at the bottom, holds it still.
Material Is Chosen for Weight
Lightweight composite, foam board or fabric in a frame. The lighter the panel, the simpler the fixing and the less the building has to carry, so weight drives the material choice more than finish does.
Installed to a Set Height
Wires are cut to length so every sign in a run hangs at exactly the same level, which is immediately obvious down a long aisle if it is not done. We set the first sign, measure it, and cut the rest to match that single reference.
The constraint that decides many of these jobs is access. Fitting at height over a trading floor needs a platform and usually out of hours work, and that access cost can exceed the sign. Worth knowing before the design grows.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
