The Handle Attachment Carries the Load
A twisted paper handle glued to a reinforcing patch inside the top edge spreads the load across the bag. A handle glued straight to a single layer of paper tears out on the first heavy lift. That patch is invisible and it is the most important part of the bag.
Rope Handles Need Punched Holes and Knots
Cotton or rope handles are threaded through punched holes and knotted inside, which is far stronger than any glued handle and reads as premium. It also costs more, because somebody threads and knots each bag by hand.
The Base Needs a Board
A loose card insert in the bottom stops the base bowing and splitting under a boxed item. Without it a bag with any weight in it sags into a bowl shape and the sides crease.
The Gusset Decides What Fits
The folded side panel sets how deep the bag opens. A narrow gusset suits clothing and documents. A wide one takes boxes. Measuring the thing that has to go in the bag comes before choosing a size.
Lamination Protects the Print and the Paper
A matt or gloss laminate stops the printed face scuffing and gives the paper some resistance to damp hands and rain. On a retail carrier that will be reused, it roughly doubles the useful life.
Loaded and Lifted on a Sample
We put weight in a sample bag and carry it by the handle before confirming an order, because the only meaningful test of a paper bag is the one that breaks it.
The limit is weight. A paper bag is not a substitute for a box, and the handle will eventually win no argument with a heavy object. For anything genuinely weighty, a bag with rope handles and a reinforced base is the maximum paper can honestly do.
