Sublimation Puts the Dye Into the Fibre
Polyester is printed with a dye that turns to gas under heat and enters the fibre itself. Nothing sits on the surface, so there is no cracking, no peeling and no stiffness, and the shirt stays breathable where a screen print would not.
The Whole Garment Can Be Covered
Because the panels are printed flat before being cut and sewn, a design can run across seams, round sleeves and into the collar. Sponsor blocks, patterns and gradients all print at no extra cost, since it is one process whatever is on it.
It Only Works on Polyester
Sublimation dye bonds with synthetic fibres and does nothing on cotton. A cotton jersey has to be screen printed, which is why performance team kit is polyester and why that is a technical requirement and not a preference.
Every Shirt Is Made to Order
Names, numbers and sizes are laid out per player before anything is cut. There is no stock to pull from, which means the lead time is manufacturing time and a late addition to the squad is a separate production run.
Numbers Have to Read From the Stand
A number on the back is read from across a pitch, so it runs large and in high contrast against the shirt colour. A number in a similar tone to the fabric is invisible at distance, which defeats the purpose of having one.
One Jersey Made Before the Set
We produce a single complete shirt in the agreed design for approval, since colour on polyester after sublimation looks different from any screen proof.
A warning about the squad list. Once panels are printed with names, a change means remaking that shirt from the start. We need the list, the numbers and the sizes confirmed in writing, because a spelling correction after printing is a new jersey and not an amendment.
