Building Wrap Banners in Dubai: Printing at the Size of a Facade

A building wrap is the largest thing we print, and at a certain size the rules change. Building wrap banners in Dubai are not one banner but a set of enormous drops engineered to hang off scaffold, survive wind at height and be installed by people on a rope.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

The Scaffold Comes First

Nothing is specified until we know what the wrap is hanging from. Tube spacing, tie points and whether the scaffold is sheeted already all decide the panel size and the fixing method. The structure leads, the graphic follows.

02 / 06

It Is Split Into Drops

The facade is divided into vertical drops sized to what a crew can control in air. A drop too wide becomes impossible to handle at height, even in light wind, so panel width is an installation decision before it is a design one.

03 / 06

Mesh Is Usually Not Optional

At this scale the wind load on solid material is severe. Printed mesh with a defined open area lets air through and is what most building wraps are produced on. It also keeps light into the floors behind it, which matters if anyone is working in there.

04 / 06

Edges Are Rope Stitched

Every drop gets a cord sewn into the hem so the whole edge takes tension as a line. Installers tie to the rope, never through the material, and that is what stops a wrap tearing at its fixings.

05 / 06

Coming Down

Wraps are removed drop by drop in reverse order. Panels are often reusable if the next phase needs the same artwork.

06 / 06

Seams Are Positioned Deliberately

Where drops meet, the join runs the full height of the building and cannot be hidden. We place those seams on an architectural line, a column or a floor division, so the eye reads them as part of the facade. Seams falling across a face or a word are visible from a long way off.

We have to be clear about one thing. Wraps at this size involve structural and permit considerations beyond printing, and that work sits with your contractor and the authority. We produce and install the graphic to the engineer's requirements, we do not replace them.
