Mesh Fence Banners in Dubai: Letting the Wind Straight Through
Hold a piece of printed mesh up to the light and you can see through it. Thousands of small perforations run across the whole sheet. Mesh fence banners in Dubai exist because of what those holes do in wind, and understanding the trade they represent makes the choice between mesh and solid simple.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
Air Passes Instead of Pushing
A solid banner catches wind and transfers all of it into the fence and the fixings. Mesh lets a large share pass through, so the load on the structure drops sharply. On anything tall or exposed this is the difference between a banner that stays up and one that takes the fence with it.
The Open Area Is a Specification
Mesh is made in different open ratios. More open means less wind load and a slightly paler image. Less open means stronger colour and more push. We pick based on the height and exposure of the position, not on the artwork.
Colour Is Printed Slightly Heavier
Because some of the surface is missing, the ink has to work harder. Files for mesh are adjusted so the printed result reads at full strength from the viewing distance, which is always several metres away.
Up Close It Looks Perforated
From a metre you can see the holes. From the road you cannot. Nobody reads a fence banner from a metre away, which is why this never matters in practice.
Fixing It
Hemmed all round with eyelets at close spacing, tied at every one. Mesh wants to be pulled properly tight, since a slack mesh banner flutters and the flutter is what wears the eyelets.
Backing Colour Affects the Read
Light passes through mesh, so whatever is behind the banner tints it slightly. Against a dark compound the print looks richer. Against bright sky on an open fence it looks paler. On tall installs we allow for this in the file, which is one more reason the position is specified before printing.
One genuine downside. Mesh does not give privacy. If the point of the banner is to hide what is behind the fence as well as carry a message, you want solid PVC and you will have to deal with the wind another way.

- 02Match resolution to distanceSomething read from a few metres away needs far less resolution than a business card. Around 100 dpi at full size is usually plenty.
- 03Tell us how it will be fixedHems, eyelets, pole pockets and frames take up material around the edge. Tell us the fixing and prepress allows for it.
- 04Send logos as vectorsAI, EPS, SVG or PDF keeps edges sharp at large sizes. Embed or outline the fonts.
