Booklet Printing in Dubai: Held Together by Two Staples

A booklet is a stack of folded sheets nested inside each other and stapled through the spine. Booklet printing in Dubai covers programmes, manuals, reports and small magazines, and the staple is both the cheapest binding there is and the thing that sets every limit on the job.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Two Wire Stitches Through the Fold

Sheets are gathered open over a saddle, a machine drives two wire staples through the spine and folds them flat inside. It is fast, it costs almost nothing and the booklet opens flat on a desk, which glued spines do not.

02 / 06

The Cover Is Usually a Different Stock

A heavier cover wrapped around lighter inner pages makes the booklet feel finished and stops the corners curling. Printing the cover on the same paper as the pages is cheaper and immediately reads as a photocopy.

03 / 06

The Fore Edge Gets Trimmed After Stapling

Nested sheets stick out unevenly at the open edge once folded, so the whole booklet is guillotined on three sides after binding. That trim is why nothing important should sit near the outer edge of any page.

04 / 06

Page Count Governs the Thickness

Every added sheet is four more pages and more bulk at the spine. Above roughly sixty four pages on normal stock the staples start to struggle and the booklet springs open, which is the point at which a glued spine becomes the right answer.

05 / 06

Spreads Have to Be Imposed

Page one sits next to the last page on the same sheet. We work out that arrangement from your document, so you supply pages in reading order and never try to pair them up yourself.

06 / 06

One Copy Bound and Checked

We staple and trim a single copy from the run and read it through in order, because an imposition error is invisible on screen and obvious in the hand.

The limit is the staple. On a thick booklet it holds the middle pages less firmly, and a programme that will be rolled up and carried round a venue all day will loosen at the centre. For anything that has to survive handling, fewer pages on heavier paper beats more pages on thin.
