Pylon and Unipole Signage in Dubai: A Sign With Foundations
A pylon sign is a structure before it is a sign. One or two steel columns go into the ground, a cabinet sits on top, and the whole thing has to stand in wind for twenty years. Pylon and unipole signage in Dubai begins with a hole and a concrete pour, not with artwork.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
The Foundation Is Sized to the Sign
Height, face area and local wind loading set the depth and volume of the concrete base. This is calculated, not estimated, and on a tall unipole the foundation is a substantial piece of civil work in its own right.
Services Have to Be Found First
Before anything is excavated, the position is checked against drainage, power and communications runs. Discovering a cable at a metre down stops the job and moves the sign, so this is done at survey.
The Column Goes Up in One Lift
The post is craned into the prepared base and held while it sets, plumb in both directions. A pylon a degree off vertical is visible from a long way down the road and cannot be corrected afterwards.
The Cabinet Is Built Separately
Faces, lighting and internal frame are assembled in the workshop and lifted onto the column as a unit. Access panels are positioned so a face can be changed from a platform without dismantling anything.
Faces Are Usually Flex or Acrylic
Tensioned flex faces suit large cabinets and can be replaced cheaply. Acrylic gives a crisper result at smaller sizes. Both are serviceable from the front with the right access.
Maintained From the Ground
Lighting gear and drivers are placed in an accessible base compartment wherever the design allows, so routine work does not need a platform. Over the life of a pylon that one decision saves more than it costs, since hiring access for a failed driver is the expensive part of any repair.
Worth saying plainly: this is the longest lead time of anything we make. Structural design, permissions, excavation and a crane all have to line up, and the printing is the quickest part of it by a wide margin.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
