Bottle Labels in Dubai: Wrapped Around Something That Sweats

A bottle label has two problems a flat label never meets. It has to sit on a curve without creasing, and it has to stay stuck to a surface that will be cold, wet and handled. Bottle labels in Dubai go on water, juice, sauces, oils, candles and cosmetics, and the drink decides the material.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

A Curve Fights the Material

Paper is happy to bend one way and so is film, but a label applied slightly off straight on a cylinder will show it immediately as a rising or falling edge. The tighter the bottle, the less margin there is, and a small cosmetic bottle is far less forgiving than a wine bottle.

02 / 06

Condensation Is the Real Test

A chilled bottle taken out into Dubai air is wet within a minute. Paper labels soften, darken and lift at the corners. A film label with a moisture resistant adhesive ignores it. If the product is ever refrigerated, this decision is already made for you.

03 / 06

Wrap or Front and Back

A full wrap goes all the way round and gives you the whole surface to design on, with an overlap where the two ends meet. Separate front and back labels leave bare glass between them, which looks deliberate on a premium product and cheap on a budget one.

04 / 06

Material Follows the Contents

Oils and sauces get handled with greasy fingers and need a laminate. Candles get warm. Cosmetics get splashed in a bathroom. Tell us what goes in the bottle and the specification stops being a guess.

05 / 06

Applied by Hand or by Machine

Hand application wants labels on sheets with a slight gap to grip. A labelling machine wants a roll with a specified core, gap and wind direction. Those are not interchangeable, so we need to know which before we finish the job.

06 / 06

Supplied to Match Your Application

Rolls come wound to your machine's direction and sheets come with a peelable corner, because a label that fights the applicator costs more in labour than it ever saved in print.

On a wrap, something has to sit under the join. Put a block of flat colour there and the overlap disappears. Run a photograph or a barcode across it and the join will be visible on every single bottle. There is one thing we cannot engineer away. On a clear film wrap around a narrow bottle, the overlap leaves a faint double thickness line you can feel and sometimes see. It is the physics of two layers of film, and a deliberate design element over the join is the only real answer.
