Island Booths in Dubai: Nothing to Lean On
An island has aisles on all four sides and shares no wall with anybody. Island booths in Dubai are the most visible pitch at any show and the most demanding to design, because every structure has to stand on its own and every face is on display.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
There Are No Walls at All
Everything you build is freestanding and weighted or braced. That changes the engineering of even simple elements, since nothing can be fixed to a neighbouring panel.
Four Faces, Four Audiences
Visitors approach from every direction and no single face is the front. Branding has to read from all four, which usually means a central tower or a hanging structure instead of walls.
The Middle Is the Decision
An island can be open in the centre with activity around the edges, or built up in the middle with circulation around it. Those two layouts behave completely differently and the choice is made early.
Sightlines Through the Stand Matter
Because people can see straight across it, anything placed in the middle blocks the view through from two aisles. Low furniture keeps the stand feeling open and tall elements deliberately close it off.
Storage Has Nowhere Obvious to Go
With no back wall, the storeroom becomes a built element in the middle of the stand, usually doubling as the structure carrying the overhead branding.
Engineered as a Freestanding Structure
Everything is designed to be stable without support from anything else in the hall, which is the defining constraint of this pitch. Plan the view from above as well. Island pitches are photographed from mezzanines and balconies at most large venues, and a stand with an open top reads very differently in those shots than it does from the aisle at ground level.
The honest point about budget: an island pitch costs the most to take and the most to build, and a modest stand on an island looks worse than the same money spent on a corner. Take an island when the build budget matches the space.

- 03Tell us how it will be fixedHems, eyelets, pole pockets and frames take up material around the edge. Tell us the fixing and prepress allows for it.
