Opening Soon Hoarding in Dubai: The Last Six Weeks Before a Shop Opens

An opening soon hoarding has one job and a deadline attached to it. The unit is being fitted out, the brand is already signed, and the hoarding exists to make people curious on their way past. Opening soon hoarding in Dubai is a short campaign measured in weeks, and that changes how it should be built.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Week Six: The Brand Goes Up

The fit out starts and the hoarding goes on immediately. This first graphic is usually the logo, a date and very little else. Restraint works here because there is nothing to tell yet and a crowded panel reads as a sale, not an opening.

02 / 06

Week Four: People Start Asking

Mall footfall notices a changed frontage within days. A QR code or a social handle on the panel is doing more work at this stage than any amount of copy, because the people reading it are already interested enough to look.

03 / 06

Week Two: The Date Gets Specific

Many clients reprint one panel at this point to turn a vague month into an actual date. Printing the exact date on day one is the mistake, since fit out slips and nobody wants to be advertising a date that has passed.

04 / 06

Opening Week: It Comes Down Clean

Hoarding is removed, usually overnight, and the glass goes in. A graphic fixed with tensioned battens comes off without marking the shopfront behind it.

05 / 06

After It Comes Down

The brand panels often get reused for the next store in the same rollout, which is worth knowing when the first one is being specified.

06 / 06

Leave Room for the Door

Fit out crews need access through the hoarding for the whole period, and the access door is usually cut after the graphic is fitted. Mark where it goes before printing. A door cut through the middle of a logo is the most common avoidable fault on a retail hoarding.

The thing to plan for is the reprint. Treat the date panel as a consumable from the start and size it as one bay, so changing it later costs one panel and an hour on site instead of the whole frontage.
