The Print Is Protected on Both Faces
Acrylic front and back means the paper cannot be touched, marked or scuffed. In a corridor or a reception this is why they outlast every other way of hanging a print.
Standoffs Lift It Off the Wall
Polished bolts hold the assembly a short distance clear of the surface, throwing a shadow behind it. That gap is most of why the piece reads as expensive.
The Edge Glows
Light travels through the acrylic and gathers at the polished edge, producing a bright line around the whole piece. Thicker acrylic makes this more pronounced.
The Print Can Be Changed
Unbolt, lift the front panel, swap the sheet. The acrylic and the fixings stay on the wall, so updating a piece costs a print and not a replacement.
Thickness Changes the Weight
Three millimetre panels suit smaller pieces. Anything large needs thicker acrylic to stay flat, and the assembly becomes heavy enough that the wall fixings have to be chosen properly.
Assembled and Delivered Ready
Panels, print and standoffs come assembled with the wall fixings supplied, and the drilling positions marked. Decide the standoff length with the wall in mind. A longer bolt throws a deeper shadow and looks more deliberate, but on an uneven wall it also exaggerates any gap behind the panel at one corner. Keep a spare print with the piece. Swapping the sheet is quick, and having the replacement already cut to size means the panel is open for a minute instead of sitting empty on a desk for a week.
A realistic warning about dust: anything trapped between the layers when it is assembled stays there permanently and is visible against a pale print. These are assembled in a clean area, and a piece opened on site to change the poster usually picks something up.
