Indoor Directory Signage in Dubai: The Board Everybody Reads Once
A directory board is read by a visitor exactly once, in the thirty seconds between coming through the door and deciding which way to walk. Indoor directory signage in Dubai is designed for that single reading, and most of the design decisions come from how little time it gets.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
It Goes Where People Stop
Lift lobbies, the inside of a main entrance, the foot of a staircase. Somewhere a person naturally pauses. A directory on a wall people walk past at speed is read by nobody.
Grouping Beats Alphabetising
By floor is almost always better than by company name, because a visitor already knows who they are visiting and needs to know where to go. Alphabetical lists make sense only in a building with many tenants on every floor.
Every Line Must Be Changeable
Tenants move. Lines sit in channels as individual strips so one can be swapped in a minute. A board that needs remaking for one change stops being updated within a year.
Type Size Follows the Standing Distance
Usually a metre or less, since people walk right up to a directory. That allows smaller type and more entries than a corridor sign, which is why directories can carry a long list without becoming unreadable.
It Needs Its Own Light
Lift lobbies are often dim and directories often sit between lifts where there is no downlight. A lit board or a dedicated fitting above it makes the difference between being used and being ignored.
Installed With a Spare Set
We supply blank strips and the template, so your facilities team can order or print a replacement line without a site visit. Most buildings run through two or three changes a year, and a board that can absorb those without us attending stays accurate.
One thing to decide at the start. A board sized for today's tenant list has no room for the next one. We size for the building at full occupancy and fill the spare lines with blanks, which looks deliberate and costs nothing later.

Setting up your file.
- 01Send the logo as a vectorLetters and shapes are cut from your outlines, so we need AI, EPS, SVG or PDF, not a screenshot or a JPEG.
- 02Measure the real spaceWidth, height and a straight-on photo of the wall or fascia. The tape measure often disagrees with the drawing.
- 03Send names as textFor plates and directories, send names and titles in a document, so nothing is retyped from an image.
- 04Tell us about power and the wallFor lit signs, where the nearest power point is. For every sign, what the wall is made of.
