The Ring Is Where It Fails
A thin split ring opens under load and the keys come off. A heavier gauge ring, or a swivel clasp, is a tiny difference in cost and the difference between a keyring that survives and one that is thrown away with your logo on it.
Metal, Acrylic and Leather Age Differently
Zinc alloy with an enamel fill keeps its colour indefinitely. Acrylic is bright and cheap and scratches to a dull haze within months. Leather or PU softens and improves with use, which is why it reads as the premium option.
The Decoration Method Follows the Material
Metal takes engraving, etching or an enamel fill. Acrylic takes print under the surface where keys cannot reach it. Leather takes a debossed mark. Printing on top of any of these is the version that wears off.
Shape Can Be Cut to Your Logo
Both metal and acrylic can be cut to an outline, so the keyring becomes the shape of your mark instead of a disc with the mark on it. Metal needs a mould, which is a one off cost held for reorders.
Size Is Limited by a Pocket
Anything much over about fifty millimetres becomes a nuisance to carry and gets swapped off the keys. Small and heavy reads as quality. Large and light reads as a giveaway.
Sampled and Pulled Apart
We take a sample, hang weight on the ring and try to separate the fitting, because this is the item where the hardware matters more than the print.
Where these actually fail is the join between the ring and the body. A soldered or riveted attachment holds. A glued one separates eventually, usually without the owner noticing which part carried the branding. We check that join on the sample.
