Offset Printing in Dubai: The Plate Never Touches the Paper
The name describes the mechanism. Ink goes from a plate to a rubber blanket and from the blanket to the paper, so the image is offset by one step on its way across. Offset printing in Dubai is how any long run of paper work is produced.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
Grease and Water Do the Separating
A plate is treated so the image areas accept oily ink and the blank areas hold a film of water that repels it. There is no raised surface and nothing is carved. The whole process rests on that chemical difference across a flat plate.
The Blanket Protects the Plate and Suits the Paper
A rubber cylinder takes the ink from the plate and presses it onto the sheet. Rubber conforms to the texture of the paper in a way a metal plate never could, which is why offset reproduces well on rough uncoated stock.
Each Colour Is Its Own Unit
Four process colours mean four plates and four printing units, with the sheet passing through all of them in a single pass down the press. Registration between those units is what keeps a photograph sharp instead of fringed with colour.
A Spot Colour Gets Its Own Plate
Where a brand colour cannot be built from the four process inks, a fifth unit runs it as a mixed ink. That is the only way to match certain colours precisely, and it adds a plate and a unit to the job.
Speed Is Where the Economy Comes From
Once running, an offset press produces thousands of sheets an hour. The plates and the make ready are paid for once, so the longer the run, the smaller their share of each sheet.
Colour Pulled Up to Your Proof
A press operator adjusts the ink keys against the approved proof before the run counts, which is the step that makes the finished job match what you signed.
The waste at the start is unavoidable. Several hundred sheets can pass through before colour and registration settle, and that paper is gone. It is why offset is poor value at short quantities and unbeatable at long ones, and why we quote digital below the crossover.

Setting up your file.
- 01Work at the finished sizeSet the page to the exact trimmed size of the piece, not a larger sheet with crop marks drawn in.
- 02Add 3 mm bleedRun background colour and images 3 mm past every edge that gets trimmed, so no white line shows after cutting.
- 03Keep text off the edgeHold text and logos at least 4 mm inside the trim line, clear of the blade.
- 04Send a print-ready PDFCMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, images at 300 dpi at final size. AI, EPS and high-resolution JPEG also work.
