It Takes No Floor Depth
A straight frame stands almost against the wall behind it. On a nine square metre shell scheme, where every centimetre of floor is working, that is the deciding factor against a curved stand.

Shell panels come in predictable widths, and straight pop ups are sized to cover two or three of them cleanly. Covering a wall exactly, with no bare panel showing at either end, is what makes a stand read as finished.
The Graphic Is One Flat Rectangle
No curve to design around, so artwork made for a poster or a backdrop transfers directly. Text sits level and logos stay in proportion across the whole face.
It Hides the Shell Panels
Grey or white shell panelling is the most common complaint about these stands. A fabric wall across it removes the problem, and nobody needs permission to attach anything.

We work from the shell scheme specification in your exhibitor manual, since panel widths differ between venues and a stand sized for one hall can leave a gap in another. Ask for the stand to be a little wider than the wall it covers. A few centimetres of overlap at each end means a shell panel joint never shows, and it costs almost nothing at production stage.
A limitation worth naming: a straight wall is visually flat and reads as a backdrop, not as a built stand. Where you want the pitch to feel constructed instead of dressed, a curved system or a built wall does considerably more.
