The Loom Sets the Maximum
Printable polyester is manufactured at fixed widths. Beyond the widest available roll, a backdrop has to be joined somewhere, and no amount of budget changes that.
Wide Format Printers Have Limits Too
Even where fabric is wide enough, the machine has a maximum print width. The smaller of the two numbers is what actually determines a seamless size.
Joins Can Be Nearly Invisible
Where a seam is unavoidable, a stitched or welded join on polyester disappears at a couple of metres. On a press wall under flash it can catch light, which is why seamless is specified for photography.
Height Is the Easier Dimension
Roll length is effectively unlimited, so a tall narrow backdrop is straightforward. It is width that runs into the physical constraint, and most seamless requests are about width.
Tension Removes Everything Else
Stretched into a frame, a seamless panel shows no creases, no ripples and nothing to interrupt the eye. That uninterrupted surface is what the specification is really buying.
Supplied With Its Frame
Seamless panels are made to a specific frame, since the silicone edge has to match the channel exactly. Tell us the finished size before anything else. The maximum width is a physical property of the fabric and the machine, so it is the first number that has to be checked and the one that shapes every other decision on the job, including the frame and the fixing method.
The honest answer when a client asks for a six metre seamless wall: it usually cannot be done in one piece. We will tell you the true maximum and then place the join where the artwork hides it, which is a better outcome than a promise we cannot keep.
