Wall Photo Frames in Dubai: Glass, Mount and What Hangs Behind

A framed picture is four decisions stacked together: the print, the mount, the glazing and the moulding. Wall photo frames in Dubai are assembled from those four, and the glazing is the one that most often gets chosen last and matters most.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Glazing Decides What You See

Ordinary glass reflects the room, and opposite a window it becomes a mirror. Non reflective glazing costs more and is the difference between seeing the picture and seeing yourself.

02 / 06

The Mount Creates Breathing Space

A card mount holds the image away from the glass and gives the eye somewhere to rest. A print pressed directly against glass can stick to it over time in humidity.

03 / 06

Moulding Sets the Weight

A slim profile disappears and lets the image lead. A deep one frames the picture as an object. Neither is wrong and the choice usually follows the room instead of the photograph.

04 / 06

Acrylic Glazing for Large or High Pieces

Above a certain size, glass becomes heavy and hazardous. Acrylic weighs far less and does not shatter, which is why it is standard in corridors, stairwells and anywhere above head height.

05 / 06

Backing Keeps Dust Out

A sealed back board stops dust creeping in behind the mount. On a frame that will hang for years this is what keeps the white of the mount actually white.

06 / 06

Assembled and Fitted

Frames arrive assembled with hanging hardware fitted and the position of the fixings marked on the back. Agree the hanging height before fitting. A frame centred at standing eye level works in a corridor and sits too high above a sofa or a desk, and moving it afterwards leaves a hole that has to be filled and painted before anything else goes up.

The practical warning for this climate: a framed print in a bathroom, a poolside corridor or anywhere with real humidity will eventually show cockling in the paper behind the glass. Those positions want an acrylic mounted print with no enclosed air at all.
