Phone Photographs Have Limits
A recent phone image prints beautifully up to a moderate size and then softens. We will tell you the largest size a file genuinely supports, which is frequently smaller than the one requested.
Screenshots and Downloads Rarely Work
An image saved from a website or a messaging app has already been compressed. It can look perfect on a screen and show blocking and soft edges the moment it is a metre wide.
Paper Changes the Image
Lustre holds detail and resists reflections. Matt is softer and suits portraits. Gloss is punchiest and shows every fingerprint and every lamp in the room.
Colour Shifts Between Screen and Paper
Screens are backlit and paper is not, so a print is always slightly less luminous than the file looked. We account for it, and for an important piece a small test print settles it.
Pigment Inks Last
Photo work is printed with pigment ink and not dye, which holds colour far longer out of direct sunlight. That is what makes a print worth framing.
Supplied Ready to Frame
Prints come with a border for mounting if you ask, or trimmed to size for a frame you already own. Send the original file, not a version that has been emailed or shared through a messaging app. Those services compress images automatically, and the copy that reaches us is frequently a fraction of the quality of the original sitting on your phone or camera.
