Stage Backdrops and Branding in Dubai: Read From the Back Row
A stage backdrop is seen from fifty metres by people at the back of a ballroom and from two metres by the camera at the front. Stage backdrops and branding in Dubai have to work at both distances, and the back row is the harder of the two.
Structure: Tension fabric frame · Lighting: Unlit · Installation: Delivered and installed

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
Scale Comes From the Room Depth
Logos and text are sized against the distance to the furthest seat. A mark that looks generous on a drawing frequently disappears from row twenty, and nothing can be done about it once the wall is printed.
The Lower Third Is Lost
Speakers, lecterns and seated panels cover the bottom of any stage backdrop. Artwork is laid out so nothing important sits below about a metre from the stage floor.
Rigging Decides the Construction
Some venues allow flown backdrops from truss, others require freestanding frames. That rule is confirmed before design, because a flown graphic and a standing one are built completely differently.
Lighting Is Hot and Direct
Stage lighting is far stronger than ambient venue light. Matt finishes hold up. Anything with sheen produces a glare band that the audience sees and the camera exaggerates.
It Is Wider Than the Stage
The backdrop extends past the staging on both sides, so wide camera shots do not catch the edge of the graphic and the drape or wall behind it.
Installed With the AV Crew
Backdrop, lighting and screens are fitted in one coordinated session, because each one affects where the others can go. Get the final running order before printing. Stage backdrops frequently carry sponsor marks that change as late as the week of the event, and a wall produced before that list is settled is a wall produced twice, at full cost both times.
A limit worth hearing early: ceiling height in hotel ballrooms is often lower than it appears, and a backdrop designed at a height the room cannot take has to be cut down late. We confirm the clear height on site before anything is produced.
