How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Detail Is the Difference

Where a plain crown is a simple banded shape, a royal crown carries modelled detail, arches and often a finished orb. It is a cast ornament, not a turned one, and the casting quality is what you are paying for.

02 / 06

It Demands the Rest of the Stand

An ornate finial on a plain chrome pole with a light base looks unbalanced. These are supplied with heavier gold poles and substantial bases so the whole stand carries the same register.

03 / 06

The Flag Is Usually Fringed

Gold fringe on three edges is close to standard at this level, along with heavier satin cloth that hangs in deeper folds.

04 / 06

Weight Goes Up Throughout

Cast finial, heavier pole, weighted base and a fringed flag together make a stand that is genuinely heavy. Positions are decided before assembly because moving one afterwards is a two person job.

05 / 06

Sets Must Be Identical

At this level a mismatched stand in a row is immediately visible. Full sets are ordered and made together, including spares.

06 / 06

Supplied Cased

These travel in padded cases, since a chipped finial on a cast ornament cannot be repaired invisibly. Allow longer than usual on these. Cast finials of this quality are not held in quantity locally, and the lead time on the ornament frequently exceeds the lead time on the flag. Where a stand is being made for a specific occasion, confirm the finial style in writing with the hosting body. Crowns differ between contexts, and an ornament that is correct for one ceremony can be inappropriate at another.

We will be clear about scope. For state and official occasions there may be defined requirements for flags, finials and precedence. We produce to the specification given to us and we do not advise on protocol, because the responsibility for that properly sits with the hosting body.

Compare with crown pole conference flags, national and country flags, and indoor corporate flags.
