Fan Scarves in Dubai: Knitted or Printed, and They Are Not the Same
A fan scarf is the one piece of supporter merchandise people genuinely keep. Fan scarves in Dubai come two ways, knitted or printed, and the difference in feel, cost and lead time is larger than most buyers expect.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
Knitted Scarves Are Made, Not Printed
The design is knitted into the fabric itself using coloured yarn. The result is thick, warm, reversible and genuinely durable, and it is what people picture when they think of a club scarf.
Printed Scarves Are Faster and Cheaper
A design is printed onto light polyester or fleece. Full colour and photographic detail are possible, which knitting cannot do, and lead times are much shorter.
Yarn Limits the Knitted Design
Knitting works in blocks of solid colour with a limited palette. Gradients, photographs and fine detail are not available, so artwork is usually redrawn for a knitted version.
Lead Time Separates Them
Knitted scarves take considerably longer because they are manufactured, not decorated. For a fixture a fortnight away, printed is often the only option that arrives in time.
Both Get Kept
Unlike almost everything else handed out at an event, scarves are worn again. That gives them a value per unit well beyond the cost.
Finished With Fringes
Knitted scarves are finished with twisted fringes at both ends. Printed versions can have fringes added or be hemmed plain. For a knitted order, start the conversation months ahead of the fixture. The design has to be redrawn for yarn, approved as a knitted sample and then manufactured, and none of that compresses well. Sizing is effectively standard, which helps. A scarf is around a hundred and forty centimetres long and seventeen to twenty wide, and departing from that makes it feel wrong to anybody who owns one already, which defeats the point of making something people keep.
The honest recommendation: for a club building long term identity, knitted is worth the wait and the money. For a one off fixture, a sponsor activation or a short campaign, printed does the job and nobody minds.
