It Weighs Almost Nothing
A PVC framed canvas can hang on adhesive fixings where a timber one would need a proper anchor. For a leased office with partition walls that is a genuine advantage.
It Ignores Humidity Completely
Plastic does not take up moisture, so there is no seasonal movement and no twisting. In that one respect it behaves more like aluminium than like timber.
It Is Best at Smaller Sizes
PVC is less rigid than either timber or metal. On a small or medium piece that is irrelevant. Beyond about a metre the profile begins to flex and the canvas tension suffers.
Volume Orders Suit It
Hotels, clinics and offices ordering twenty or fifty matching pieces are the usual buyers, because the saving per piece adds up quickly across a floor.
The Edge Reads Plainer
On a gallery wrap the frame edge is visible. PVC is neutral and unremarkable there, which is fine when the canvas wraps fully and the frame is never seen.

Fixings are fitted at the back and the piece arrives finished, with the same pigment printed canvas as the other frame types. Order these as a batch where you can. The economy only really shows at quantity, and a single PVC framed piece costs close to the same as timber once the setup is accounted for. Confirm the sizes before ordering a set. Because these suit volume work, most orders run to a handful of repeated dimensions, and settling those early keeps the price advantage that made PVC the choice in the first place.
Being clear about where it is wrong: anything large, anything that will be looked at closely from the side, and anything intended as a significant piece belongs on timber or aluminium. PVC is a sensible economy, not an upgrade.
