No Paste, No Water, No Table
Traditional papering needs paste, a pasting table and somewhere for the paper to soak. None of that applies here, which is why it gets chosen by people doing the work themselves.
It Can Be Repositioned, Briefly
Most self adhesive papers lift and reposition for the first few minutes while the adhesive is still grabbing. After that it holds, and after a day it holds properly.
The Wall Has to Be Smooth
Adhesive bridges over texture instead of keying into it. On textured paint or render it will release from the high points within weeks, which is the most common failure.
It Comes Off Again
Peeled slowly from a corner, it leaves a clean wall. That removability is the point, and it is what makes it workable in a leased space where putting the wall back is a contractual obligation.
Fresh Paint Is a Problem
New paint needs several weeks to cure fully. Applied too early, the adhesive bonds to uncured paint and takes it off the wall on removal, which is a far worse outcome than not papering at all.

Numbered drops arrive with a hanging sequence and a squeegee, and we will install it where you would rather not. Test a small piece in a corner first. Walls in this region are finished in a wide variety of ways, and twenty minutes spent checking whether the adhesive actually holds on your surface saves the entire cost of the job.
The realistic limitation is size. Self adhesive is manageable for a feature wall or a small room. Across a large area the drops get heavy and unwieldy, and paste applied paper is easier to handle and align.
