The Repeat Is the Whole Design
Every pattern has a vertical repeat distance and a horizontal match. Those two figures determine how much paper a room needs, and they are the reason a quantity calculation is not simply area divided by roll size.
Waste Is Built Into the Quantity
Matching the pattern means trimming the top of each drop. The larger the repeat, the more is cut away, and a bold pattern can waste a noticeable proportion of every roll.
Batch Numbers Matter
Rolls printed in different production runs can vary slightly in colour. All rolls for one room should come from a single batch, and ordering one extra roll later frequently does not match.
It Suits Whole Rooms
Where custom wallpaper is made for one feature wall, a repeating pattern wraps a whole room, around corners and above doors, without any layout decisions.
Stock Is Finite
A range is discontinued eventually. Where a space may need patching or extending later, buying a spare roll at the outset is the only reliable protection.
Ordered With a Calculation
We work out roll quantity from the wall dimensions and the pattern repeat, because ordering by area alone leaves most rooms short. Check the roll length as well as the width. Ranges vary, and two patterns that look equivalent on a sample board can need noticeably different quantities once the repeat and the roll length are both taken into account properly against the height of your walls.
The honest comparison: ready made is cheaper per square metre and gives up all control of the image. If the wall is meant to carry a brand, a photograph or anything specific, it has to be custom printed and there is no middle option.
