Ceremonial Ribbon Printing in Dubai: Cut Once, Photographed Forever

A ceremonial ribbon exists for one cut and one photograph, and then it is over. Ceremonial ribbon printing in Dubai goes to store openings, hospital wings, school buildings and factory launches, and the printing has to be right first time because there is no second ceremony.

How it's made

From your file to the finished job.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.

01 / 06

Satin Behaves Nothing Like Paper

Ribbon is woven and it has a sheen, so ink sits on a surface that reflects light unevenly. Colours come out slightly deeper than the same file on paper, and we match to the material and not to a screen.

02 / 06

Width Decides What Fits

A fifty millimetre ribbon takes a logo and a few words. A hundred millimetre one takes a full line of text and a date comfortably. Measure what you want to say before choosing a width, since the reverse never works.

03 / 06

Length Spans the Doorway

The ribbon crosses the opening with enough slack at each end for two people to hold it and for a cut to leave both halves intact. Measure the doorway and add a generous margin. A short ribbon forces people to stand awkwardly close together.

04 / 06

It Has to Cut Cleanly

Satin frays if it is cut with the wrong scissors or along the wrong grain. A heavier weave and a clean edge means the cut looks decisive in the photograph instead of dragging and stretching.

05 / 06

The Halves Get Kept

Both cut pieces end up framed in a reception or in a chairman's office. Print so that each half still carries something readable after the cut, which means keeping the key text away from the exact centre.

06 / 06

Delivered Rolled on a Tube

Ribbons leave here rolled, never folded, boxed flat and timed to arrive a day or two before the ceremony.

Here is the honest bit. Printed satin is not a fabric that forgives storage. Folded in a drawer for a month it holds the creases, and a creased ribbon reads as an afterthought in every photo. These need delivering close to the date.
