Custom Boxes in Dubai: Everything Comes From the Dieline

Before a box exists there is a drawing of it unfolded, with every cut as a solid line and every crease as a dashed one. Custom boxes in Dubai all begin with that dieline, and it is the document the die, the print and the folding instructions are all built from.

Before it reaches you

What happens to your order before it reaches you.

Six steps, from the brief you send us to the moment it is in place.

01

The Dieline Is Drawn From the Inside Out

Internal dimensions come first, because that is the space the product occupies. The board thickness is then added to every wall, so a box with internal measurements of a hundred millimetres is several millimetres larger outside. Confusing the two is the commonest sizing error we see.

02

Glue Tabs and Dust Flaps Are Drawn In

A dieline carries more panels than the box appears to have. There is a tab for the glued seam and small dust flaps that close the gaps at the ends. These never show on the finished box and they are a real part of the board area being paid for.

03

Artwork Is Placed Onto the Dieline

Your design is laid over the flat shape, with bleed carried past every cut edge and nothing important inside a few millimetres of a crease. Artwork crossing a fold distorts slightly at the bend, so logos are kept clear of them.

04

One Die Serves One Size Only

Change a dimension and the steel has to be re bent. That is why a range of three box sizes is three dies, and why standardising on fewer sizes is the single biggest saving available on a packaging programme.

05

The Die Is Kept and Reused

Once made, the tool is stored and indexed, so a repeat order skips straight to printing. The first run carries the tooling and every run after it does not.

06

Dieline Approved Before Steel Is Bent

We send the flat drawing with every dimension marked for you to sign off, since the die is the one thing that cannot be altered afterwards.

On the first sample, expect a change. Almost every first box reveals something, usually that it is a fraction tight, or that a flap fouls on the product going in. We build that round of adjustment into the schedule because it happens nearly every time.
