Hoisting Flags in Dubai: Raised and Lowered Every Day
A hoisting flag flies from a fixed pole on a rope, and somebody raises it in the morning and brings it down at night. Hoisting flags in Dubai go outside schools, hotels, government buildings and company headquarters, and they are built for a daily cycle no event flag ever sees.

Six steps happen between the brief and the finished job. Here they are, in the order they happen on our floor in Dubai South.
It Attaches With Rope and Toggle or Clips
The hoist edge carries either a rope with wooden toggles at top and bottom, or two metal clips. Clips are quicker to operate daily. Rope and toggle is the traditional fitting and spreads load better on a large flag.
The Hoist Edge Is the Strong Edge
That vertical edge carries the entire weight and all the pull. It is reinforced with webbing sewn through its full length, and the attachment points are bar tacked.
The Fly Edge Wears First
The far edge moves fastest and frays soonest. On flags that fly every day we specify a doubled or quadruple stitched fly hem as standard, which is the main thing extending its life.
Size Follows the Pole
Flag length is roughly a quarter to a third of the pole height. Too small looks neglected, too large fouls the halyard and drags on the ground when lowered.
Daily Handling Is the Real Test
Raising and lowering puts stress on the fittings far more often than wind does. The cleat, the halyard and the clips are consumables and worth keeping spares of.
Made to Standard Sizes
We make to the pole you have, and can match an existing flag from a photograph and a measurement. Keep a spare halyard and a spare set of clips in the building. Both are inexpensive, both fail without warning, and neither is available locally at seven in the morning.
Something we always mention: a flag left flying permanently wears several times faster than one brought in at night. If the flag matters to you, the nightly routine is worth maintaining, and most organisations that complain about flag life are not doing it.
